Game of Thrones Elevator on Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift, the virtual reality head-mounted display, has come up with another virtual simulation for you to try out. With the launch of the latest Oculus Rift’s 4D Game of Thrones Experience, step into an absolutely immersive media and enjoy vivid and almost life like sensations. Game of Thrones is a hit TV show and book series which needs no introduction. With millions of viewers worldwide, the TV show has one of the most loyal and ever growing fan bases. Oculus Rift has great news for all the Game of Thrones fans out there. Now the hardcore fans have an amazing chance to experience the fictional world they greatly love.

Oculus Rift’s 4D Game of Thrones Experience sends you off to the top of The Wall, a 700 ft long ice wall in the fictional world of Westeros built to protect the kingdom from the unknown. The immersion with Oculus Rift’s 4D Game of Thrones feels completely real as the computer generated Wall is incorporated with actual sensory information such as cold wind and a vibrating elevator shaft with a moving floor.

To test the reality of the new development, two women put on Oculus Rift head set to try out the virtual 4D ‘Ascend the Wall’ environment at the Game of Thrones exhibition at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. One of them was Maisie Williams, the 16 years old actress who plays Arya Stark in the show and the other actress was Gwendoline Christie  who portrays Brienne of Tarth. Maisie has Acrophobia which is simply known as the fear of heights. As soon as she put on the head set, she was transported to the top of The Wall with the help of an elevator shaft. Due to her irrational phobia, Maisie instantly panicked and began to scream. She frantically gripped on to the bars of the elevator and repeatedly shouted “No!”. The gaming gear was quickly pulled off from her face. Although unfortunate, Maisie’s reaction proves that the 4D immersion with Oculus Rift’s new gaming gear is genuine and truly realistic in nature.
