AltspaceVR has announced that it will fully support the Oculus Rift, with its advanced social VR experiences. AltspaceVR software with Rift support can be downloaded now at no cost in two ways: from Steam, the largest digital distribution platform for PC gaming, or directly from AltspaceVR.

Starting in summer 2014, users with the earlier Oculus Rift DK2 model were among the first to explore social VR in AltspaceVR. Since then, AltspaceVR has been leading the development of VR as a communication medium, bringing users together where they can directly interact in shared virtual spaces. With AltspaceVR, Oculus Rift owners can now attend live music, comedy or art shows, or watch streaming video such as YouTube, Twitch or Periscope, or play tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons or Boss Monster in VR.

Oculus Rift users can move freely around and between environments with their friends in AltspaceVR. They can talk, gesture and interact in the most natural way possible online while enjoying the greatest variety of activities and events available in social VR.

AltspaceVR is cross-platform, allowing users to connect seamlessly with one another in VR even if they are on different platforms, In addition to the Oculus Rift and the Oculus Rift DK2, AltspaceVR supports the HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR. AltspaceVR also supports Leap Motion and Kinect for Windows.
