Just as Oculus was prepping itself for a special announcement on the 11th of June, it swiftly changed its overall corporate look in line with the impending event.

Oculus VR has unveiled a newly-redesigned corporate logo, with a new typeface in lowercase letters for the word “Oculus”, and a flattened oval on top resembling the eye. Also, the VR company has set up a countdown timer on its refreshed homepage, citing the special event. Coincidentally with this homepage refresh, Oculus has unintentionally leaked some hints on its upcoming consumer-version Oculus Rift VR headset. In fact, these hints are so obvious – one can tell the distinct physical features of the VR goggles as well as all the accessories that will be bundled with it.

In the Reddit page for Oculus VR, some Internet sleuths have dug up important photos that are linked directly to the Oculus Rift. These photos are the renders of the supposed consumer version of the Rift headset, complete from the pair of VR goggles to its accessories, which includes a touch-sensitive controller, an external camera module, and an audio headset. In response to the posted images – leaked images, rather – of the consumer Rift, Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey was swift to confirm that these renders of the Oculus Rift are indeed real. But there’s still a lot to know about the final features and look of the consumer Rift as well as its accessories.

Luckey wrote in the Reddit page for Oculus, “This is an old placeholder concept image that we accidentally leaked. Everything in it is ancient, certainly nowhere close to final.” He adds, “Enjoy checking it out, at this point, but don’t expect everything to carry through to the stream on the 11th.” Apparently, there are distinct differences between the leaked images and the promotional materials that Oculus has revealed last month. One leaked image shows the Rift with a camera positioned at the bottom part, while the teaser for the consumer Rift has no signs of any camera module attached to it. This could strengthen Luckey’s statement of the leaked renders being “ancient”, as the development team at Oculus VR may have shelved the camera idea for the final product. There is also a so-called Simple Input Device (SID) that resembles a remote control with a touchpad.

Until now, a pricing for the Oculus Rift has not been disclosed, even with the leaked images. Previously, Oculus has mentioned that a complete rig for the Oculus Rift will be priced under $1,500.
