Project CARS

With the focus being towards space simulation, shooting and horror games, it seems like the racing genre has been severely neglected. This – as Slightly Mad Studios proves – is not true in the least.

The team of Slightly Mad Studios has come up with an exciting new racing game by the name of ‘Project CARS’. It is being called the ‘ultimate driving journey’ and the studios claim it is “the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet.” Of course, personal bias must be kept aside but looking at the screenshots released by the developers, it seems like a thrilling game with amazing graphics.

Slightly Mad Studios is a developer that has won a few major awards for its work with gaming and visuals. Their biggest claim to fame is the work they have done with Electronic Arts hugely popular Need for Speed (the SHIFT series). There can be no bigger testimonial to the developers’ credit once they’ve been associated with this game series. Their head office is located in London, around the Tower Bridge but they have a team that works internationally, wherever needed. Slightly Mad Studios believes in being cost effective, efficient and more creative than the norm. They have recently announced the launch of a sister company by the name of ‘Gamagio’ which will focus on social and mobile games with completely new technology in use. They have claimed to be working on several new projects and will be releasing them as soon as they are finalized.

Coming back to Project CARS, Slightly Mad Studios have said that they plan to launch support for the second development kit (DK2) of Oculus Rift for it to be compatible with the racing game. In the video game, the players get to choose a driver and his own vehicle from a pretty impressive array. The goal is to race against other cars of similar make, model and racing capacity. The player has to chase after Historic Goals and perform well enough against his opponents to land a revered place in the Hall of Fame. Players can test their skills online against other players from all over the world within either competitive, fully loaded weekend races, time challenges based on leader board scores, or community events that are consistently being updated by the developers.

The graphics are stunning, the dynamic of time and weather is breathtakingly dynamic, there is tuning and a pit stop facility available within the game and with all this, it becomes clear why the developers are so proud of this game. Virtual Reality Times will keep reporting back with the latest updates about Project CARS.
