Oculus Rift-Powered Light Cycle Sim
Still in beta state, the latest RiftCycles project has stolen the hearts of many gaming enthusiasts and Tron fans. An indie developer, referred to as The Arcade Man, has introduced a whole new genre to arcade gaming. He has integrated the Tron: Legacy light cycle replica to the Oculus Rift headset and formed an awesome simulation game.  You can check out the step by step construction of the cycle on The Arcade Man’s website.

To experience the sensational game, just hook up a Tron light cycle duplicate with a set of Oculus Rift headset. Now you can enjoy a fantastic journey into the virtual world and fight the light cycle battle with your bikes. It is so realistic and immersive that it gives you the feeling that you are right inside the world of Tron. There is also another type of this recently introduced interactive game in which other players can participate with you and fight in the battlefield of Tron.

The RiftCycles is created by the Portuguese start up, Overflow Interactive, and is based upon the Light Cycle Battle from the fictional universe of Tron. Oculus Rift-Powered Light Cycle Sim puts all forms of game controllers and joysticks behind. Moreover, users don’t need to stare fixedly at the TV screen as they can easily navigate with the help of their Oculus Rift headset. The head tracking device is rather smooth and recreate the motions of your head quickly without any tearing.

On his website, The Arcade Man posted, “How many of us dreamed of being inside a game, this is a fantasy in the mind of all the nerdiest geeks. Thanks to an amazing little device that allows us to be “inside a game” and the project I’ve developed in the last month, I think I can say that we are in a very good way to materialize a great part of Kevin Flynn’s dream…”.

There is no doubt that all the hardcore fans of Tron: Legacy have fantasized about being inside the world of Tron. The Arcade Man has made this dream come true! The game is currently in its early prototype stages and it is not known when it will be available commercially.
